Home Sweet Home

Three years ago when our little family moved into our two-bedroom apartment on the third floor, we were ecstatic! I can remember after signing the lease and receiving our keys, we walked into our apartment and started jumping up and down. This would be our first home together as a family and we couldn't be happier. Upon arriving, we had a few boxes, a crib, a changing table and a dresser. We were so fortunate to have all of our brand new furniture delivered and once it was in place, it felt like home.

We always knew we wanted to buy a home and we had been saving for years. It was finally time thanks to a strong buyer's market and low interest rates. Our house hunt was...interesting. You would not believe what some people do to their homes! We had many laughs, but a couple of months after looking at said interesting houses, we began to get discouraged. Would we ever find our home? Then one day there it was. A brand new, beautiful home that was everything we had been looking for and in our price range. It was perfect! After a month of signing our life away and sending the mortgage lender every document that we had ever touched, we were finally homeowners!

Now, let me tell you that we were a bit spoiled when we moved into the apartment. Once we began packing, this is literally what it felt like:

Carrying all of the crap we had accumulated over the last few years down three flights of stairs was nothing short of a nightmare. (Thanks to some great helpers, though, we were able to get it done) Despite the mad rush to move and the excitement of purchasing a house, the feeling was bittersweet. This apartment was where Little J went from a crib to a big boy bed. This was where he learned to talk and write his name. This was where we came home after our wedding. This was where we spent the last three Christmas mornings and where we snuggled up together on the couch when we were snowed in. This place houses so many memories and I will have to admit that I am going to miss it. I won't, however, miss climbing three flights of stairs multiple times a day and I won't miss sharing our walls with obnoxious neighbors. We are on to bigger and better things!

Can't you see their excitment?

In this house we will spend many more Christmas mornings and we will snuggle up on the couch during cold nights and camp out in our backyard on warm summer nights. This is the home where we will make many more memories, and we are so excited for our next chapter in life!
